Building purchases are a serious investment, and doing a little research
to find the right product that will work for you is very important. Fabric structures
have emerged in the last decade as a preferred innovative product in the building
marketplace. Their key advantages over metal and wood buildings include low maintenance,
the natural light inside the building, the attractive appearance, and the quiet
environment caused by the sound dampening qualities of the cover.
As with any building, you must determine the size of building you are looking for.
Once you know width, length, and height requirements, you are ready to start shopping.
You must understand the key components to compare on the fabric structure in order
to make a satisfying purchase.
Key Components
1. Base and Anchoring: What is required to put the building up? Do you need
a concrete foundation, an anchoring system, or posts?
2. Steel Framework: What gauge of steel is the structure made of and what
is the pipe diameter? This will make a big difference on how your building will
hold up against, general wear and tear. How much space is there between rafters/arches?
This will determine the wind and snow load that the buildings can handle. How is
the building frame finished - hot dipping, galvanizing, or powder coating? These
techniques will determine if your building frame will resist corrosion.
3. Cover: What is the material for the cover made of and what is its weight?
This is important as the cover makes up your exterior which will ultimately be the
appearance and the part of the building that must stand up to weather and wear.
What colour options are available for the building?
4. Building Components: How is the building held together? What is the strength
of the winch system, what type of anchoring options are available (ground vs.wall)
and what quality of cables, straps and PVC tubing are used?
5.Warranty and Service: What type of warranty is offered on the building
and where are you purchasing the building from? Local dealers and distributors can
provide superior support for building maintenance and support.
